Your Stories
Your Story matters.
In Illinois many older homeowners living independently face steady challenges keeping up with home repairs.
From leaky roofs and uneven walkways to limited mobility adaptations, these issues can erode independence and safety. These shared stories of real experiences tell why Bills like HB 5170 must be passed to address this urgent and growing issue.
Sharing personal experiences—not just the problems but the solutions, the help found, and the barriers encountered—builds community knowledge and helps others find resources, funding, and trusted contractors.
Tell your story so neighbors, caregivers, and local programs can better understand needs and work together to keep homes livable and dignified.
