Join Us for a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Noon
Please join H.O.M.E., Housing Action Illinois, M.O.V.E., the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University, and other Fix Our Homes Illinois partners for a town hall meeting about “Building an Economic Engine for Senior Home Repair.” The event will be held at Dawson Technical Institute, 3901 S. State Street in Chicago, with a free lunch provided for attendees.
This Town Hall is being held on Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, Wed., January 15th, because it's a matter of justice.
An excellent panel will have every speaker focusing on senior home repair as having a ripple effect of benefit beyond the repair itself or the individual assisted: on the local economy and job creation, neighborhood stability, and closing the racial wealth gap.
The moderator of the panel is Sonseriya Williams of Teamwork Englewood and the panelists are:
- Home Repair Service for Seniors: Leslie Rodriguez, Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity
- Workforce Development: Dean Inesha Kelly, Dawson Technical Institute of Kennedy-King College
- Neighborhood Stabilization: Princess Shaw, Light Up Lawndale
- Preventing financial fraud, housing preservation and promoting generational wealth: Eva Adams, Center for Disability and Elder Law
